Windsurfing 7th February 2010
First sail of 2010....
Can't believe it's February already and this was only my first sail of the year. Headed down to Marazion and met up with some fellow windsurfers and then we decided to sail out of the Folly Field car park on the basis the easterly wind seemed a bit stronger down there.
Rigged 5.8 and FSW and headed out but it soon became apparent that there just wasn't quite enough wind, so spent some time slogging around.
John offered me a try of his 9'8" startboard sup, so I stuck my 5.8 on it and drifted out, the waves were around thigh to waist high on the inside with the wind pretty much cross shore, and I was VERY surprised how easy it was to catch the, not to mention how easy it was to go frontside and get in a couple of turns before dropping out the back, drifting back upwind and waiting for the next set. Only a short go but I got several waves and it was surprisingly easy, as to whether it would warrant me having on, thats a whole different discussion but I can certainly see the fun in sailing a longer wave board, not sure I can bring myself to paddle one though.
